Strontian camping Weekend
We visited Sunart Camping site last year and had such a good time, we stayed again in June. This year the weather was much kinder but the midgies were fierce. The weekend followed the format of dinner in the hotel on Friday, a run or walk on the Saturday followed by a barbecue at the camp site howf.
Huntigowks 2018
The Huntigowks lunchtime meeting is often our first gathering of the season and always brings in a good selection of bikes. Numbers were down a little this year, perhaps because it coincided with Easter. Cold but bright and dry it was a great afternoon to stand about looking at old bikes and talk in the sunshine. I’m ashamed to say I brought the Guzzi – we needed petrol when we set off but the garage only had diesel and without enough to make it to Tyndrum, we turned for home and opted to swap bikes rather than mess about draining and splashing petrol about.
Applecross Weekend
Our annual Applecross camping weekend was, unusually, not blessed with great weather. Heavy rain didn’t keep people away and we had good time despite it. My own Commando returned home on its shield after breaking the rear drive chain. I would like to find something to blame, but I’m ashamed to say it was nothing other than poor maintenance and trying to squeeze a few hundred extra miles out it before changing. Let that be a lesson to me!
Thanks to all who made it.
VMCC National Assembly
Visiting the VMCC National Assembly at Blairgowrie. Is there a better way to spend a sunny day day than going out for a ride and a wander around a field of old motorbikes? Great selection of ‘bikes and this Model 18 (??) racer style was one of my favorites – really like the stripped-down purposeful look.
Thanks to the VMCC for putting on a great event.
